The Camden County Office of Emergency Management has issued a Code Blue Advisory for the county, citing dangerously low temperatures forecasted by the National Weather Service. The advisory covers the nights of December 1 through December 6, with projected overnight lows ranging from 19°F to 29°F.

A Code Blue is declared when temperatures are expected to reach 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, or when wind chills drop to zero degrees Fahrenheit or below for at least two hours. During these periods, municipalities in Camden County are required to activate their Code Blue response plans to provide shelter and support for vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness.

Commissioner Jonathan Young, who serves as liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Safety, stated: “As temperatures fall to dangerously low levels, it is critical that our residents have access to a safe place to stay warm. We urge everyone to check in on vulnerable neighbors, ensure heating systems are working properly, and bring pets indoors.”

The Office of Emergency Management coordinates with all municipalities within Camden County to ensure appropriate resources are available during severe weather events. Each municipality identifies specific locations where individuals can seek shelter from cold conditions.

Residents looking for warming centers can find more information on available locations at www.camdencounty.com/service/health-human-services/warming-centers/. Those needing after-hours assistance are advised to call 2-1-1 for help.
