The Camden County Board of Commissioners will hold a free expungement clinic on January 19 to mark Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The event is organized in partnership with the Volunteer UP legal clinic, ARCHER Attorneys at Law, Camden County College, and the Camden County Bar Association. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Camden Technology Center on the campus of Camden County College in Camden City.
“Countless people have been disproportionally impacted by our criminal justice system, with past mistakes continuing to stand in the way of employment, housing, and long-term stability,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young. “This free expungement event removes the financial and systemic obstacles that far too many individuals face and gives them the opportunity to create a pathway forward to a successful future.”
Attendees can consult with an attorney at no cost about clearing their criminal records. Due to limited attorney availability, registration is required for those wishing to speak with an attorney. Interested individuals can register at www.volunteeruplegalclinic.org/events/011926mlk.
Camden County operates under a seven-member Board of Commissioners who oversee government operations across its 37 municipalities in southern New Jersey according to its official website. The county provides services such as public safety, health programs, infrastructure maintenance, and community facilities for more than 500,000 residents as stated on its website. In addition to these services, it promotes economic growth and supports education and workforce initiatives according to county sources.
The upcoming clinic aligns with Camden County’s broader efforts in advancing community welfare through education, workforce development, and public service programs as described online.
