Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich and the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs held a medal ceremony aboard the Battleship New Jersey on April 15 to honor eight veterans from Camden County for their service and sacrifices.
The event highlighted the county’s efforts to acknowledge local veterans who have served in various branches of the military. Honoring these individuals is part of a broader commitment by Camden County to support its residents, as described on its official website, which notes that the county advances community welfare through education, workforce development, and public services according to the official website.
“We owe a lasting debt of gratitude to these veterans,” said Commissioner Bianco Bezich, liaison to Veterans Affairs. “Their courage, service, and sacrifice deserve to be recognized, and these ceremonies are just a small way that we can show our appreciation.”
The eight honorees were Raymond W. Adkisson (Cherry Hill, Air Force), Michael H. Brown (Atco, Army), Anthony J. Costigan (Blackwood, Navy), Joseph F. Gould (Blackwood, Navy), Donald A. Hill (Collingswood, Air Force), Robert C. Holmes (Blackwood, Marine Corps), Edwin A. Johnson (Gloucester Township, Army), and Lorren L. Kay (Cherry Hill, Navy). Each received one or more Camden County service medals recognizing their contributions during conflicts such as the Korean War and Vietnam War.
Camden County supports over 500,000 residents across 37 municipalities according to the official website.
