Cost of college went up for all students at Rowan University

In-state tuition and fees rose 2 percent for 2018-19 at Rowan University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Jersey residents paid $13,697 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $275 more than the $13,422 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 63.1 percent more than residents this year, or $22,339. Their price tag grew 2.1 percent from $21,890 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Jersey residents. About 3 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 84 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,492 students received grants or scholarships totaling $14.2 million and 1,498 students took out student loans totaling more than $9.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (19,465), 6,606 students used grants or scholarships totaling $44.3 million, and 8,854 students took out $61 million in federal student loans.
