THANK YOU to the GT Special Parents & Kids Network (SPKN) for their donation of Sensory Bag to be placed in each Gloucester Township Police patrol vehicle!
The bags are to be utilized when a GTPD Officer responds to a call for service with a resident who is diagnosed with autism to lessen sensory overload and communicate with the individual.
The green bag consist of a laminated communication sheet (For non-verbal individuals), headphones (to bring down the noise level and create a more calming environment), fidget toys (too ease anxiety), sunglasses (which have a calming effect in case of bright or flashing lights), small blankets (bring comfort and something soft to hold to relieve stress), and coloring books and crayons (draw attention away from the high stress situation).
