Inspira Health has announced the expansion of its Graduate Medical Education offerings with the introduction of a Neurology Residency and a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. These programs, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), will commence in the 2025-2026 academic year. The new additions are part of Inspira's efforts to meet the growing demand for skilled physicians in South Jersey.

Once fully enrolled, Inspira will host 16 Neurology residents and 9 Cardiology fellows annually, increasing the total number of residents and fellows at its hospitals to over 376. These programs provide young physicians with hands-on training alongside experienced medical staff and a curriculum that emphasizes research, treatment methods, and patient care.

Amy Mansue, president and CEO of Inspira Health, expressed enthusiasm about the new programs: “We are thrilled to expand our graduate medical education offerings with these new programs. Thank you to our faculty for their efforts in spearheading the accreditation process to bring both the Neurology and Cardiovascular Disease programs to Inspira.”

The Neurology Residency offers unique opportunities through partnerships with Cooper University Health Care, Nemours Children’s Health, and Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine's NeuroMusculoskeletal Institute. The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is affiliated with Cooper University Health Care and provides exposure to complex cardiovascular cases.

Tony Reed, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Inspira Health, highlighted the significance of these developments: “By bringing both a neurology and cardiovascular disease graduate medical education program to our health system, we will not only enhance the specialized care provided at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill but also prepare potential future physicians who may choose to stay and practice in our community following their training.”

Inspira’s residency programs now cover various specialties across its hospitals. The institution's history of residency programs dates back to the 1980s with a Family Medicine program initiated by Underwood Memorial Hospital.
